Screening / Psychological Tests – Information Overview

Screening and Psychological Tests are an essential part of the ISSB assessment process. These tests are designed to evaluate a candidate’s intelligence, personality traits, and psychological suitability for military service. The purpose of these assessments is to understand how a candidate thinks, reacts, and expresses ideas under structured testing conditions.

Screening / Psychological Tests

These tests include intelligence tests and personality tests and are held on the morning of the second day.
The policy regarding intelligence tests has changed, and results from Initial Selection are now counted.

Intelligence Tests (Screen Out Test)

Intelligence Tests are conducted to assess the mental ability and reasoning power of candidates.
These tests are of two main types:
•Verbal Intelligence Test
•Non-Verbal Intelligence Test
Candidates who fail to reach the minimum required standard are screened out. They are allowed to return home after the test on the first day.
Intelligence Tests conducted during Initial Tests at AS&RCs are now counted for screening purposes, therefore no screening out takes place at ISSB on this basis.
